Welcome to counselling with Jacqueline

Grief lies at the heart of many of life's struggles. You may have arrived here because you are finding it difficult to cope following the death of someone important to you. Or perhaps you are experiencing a living loss such as a relationship ending, redundancy, or a significant life transition such as menopause, an empty nest, or relocation.

If this feels familiar, and you are looking for support to help sustain you through this difficult time, I want you to know that I have a deep understanding of grief and the profound impact it can have on every aspect of life.

.

Grief is a natural process that helps us to adapt to life after significant change or loss, however, grief can be complicated for many reasons. you may have had several losses in close succession which has led to compound grief. It may be that a recent bereavement has touched upon a historic loss, and you find yourself out of your depth and feeling lost in grief once again. You may be experiencing anticipatory grief as you face the imminent death of a loved one, feeling overwhelmed as you offer support to a loved one whilst fearing the emptiness you will face when they are gone. If the death was sudden or traumatic such as bereavement through suicide there is a whole new complexity to grief as you struggle with questions that may never have an answer and feelings of deep, deep sadness, guilt, and anger.

If you find yourself stuck in grief or unable to go through this alone counselling can often help.

As your counsellor, I will seek to understand how your loss has affected you personally. While some aspects of grief are shared by many people, every experience of loss is unique. Together, we can make sense of what grief means for you and find ways to navigate the changes it has brought to your life.

I know that grief can feel as though the ground has shifted beneath your feet. Part of our work together may be creating a map for this unfamiliar landscape and identifying sources of support that can help you move forward.

Alongside my professional training, I bring a personal understanding of grief and loss. I have spent five years supporting bereaved individuals as a volunteer for a national bereavement charity and have experience supporting people bereaved by suicide, both individually and within peer-support settings.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the Association of Christian Counsellors (ACC).

Many people find that spending time in nature can be particularly supportive during periods of grief and loss. For those who are interested, I offer outdoor therapy as well as counselling from a Shepherd's Hut situated close to a nature reserve in Brinscall.  The hut is a place of welcome where we can explore your grief in your own time and at a pace that feels comfortable to you. In contrast to traditional counselling rooms the hut offers views into the natural world which can encourage new perspectives, offer a holding space for difficult feelings, and reflect the changing seasons of our own lives.

Right now, you may feel unseen, lonely, or unheard. I offer a space where you can speak freely, feel heard, and share what is on your mind and in your heart. Being listened to with care and understanding can be the beginning of healing. Reaching out for counselling is not always easy, and I understand that taking this first step can feel daunting.

I want you to understand a little about how I work as a counsellor. I am trained as an integrative counsellor, which means I can draw upon a range of therapeutic approaches and adapt our work to suit your individual needs.

Working from a person-centred foundation, where your experience remains at the heart of our work, we may explore approaches such as somatic awareness, creative interventions, compassion-focused therapy, and nature-based practices where appropriate.

I understand that outdoor therapy and the Shepherd's Hut may not be accessible or suitable for everyone. For this reason, I also offer counselling online and by telephone.

If you feel that I may be the right person to support you, I would be pleased to hear from you.
